Langbar Tuesday

Rest yesterday, and this morning I managed to get out on the bike. Down to Cavendish and back via Langbar. Quite a fast pace, but I'm still feeling tired! Looking forward to an easier week next week.

  1. Hi there

I started running about 18 months ago, done 2 halfs, plan to do two more prior to the LM 2010.

I notice you're planning to do a long run once a month, I'm currently doing a long run 3 weeks out of every 4, do you think that's too much?

    Thanks

    James

  2. Hi James,
Well I'm no expert so I'm not sure. It's just for me when I do a long run (of which I have been doing 15-17 mile ones) I feel like I need to rest a few days before and a few days after. This means it takes a whole week! So given I want to do other training too (eg intervals, cycling, hills, races, etc) I can't really afford to do more than 1 a month. Perhaps as my body adjusts to doing a long run I will be able to get down to one a fortnight but right now I just can't take it. Perhaps if you can you should. Beware over-training though - you don't want to risk injury or illness. By the way, how fast are your long runs. I'm aiming for 7:30 per mile against a target in the race for 6:50. Some people have said I am doing my long run too fast and that's why it takes so much out of me?
